What is Dupont™ Corian®
DuPont™ Corian® is a high performance aesthetic and functional material, made up of 2/3 natural minerals and 1/3 acrylic resin and is pigment-compatible. The entire thickness is homogenous and has a superior degree of hygiene.
Corian®, produced exclusively by Du Pont, has been used successfully all over the world for about 40 years to make high quality surfaces for use in residential and public places.
Corian® is a material with great expressive capabilities: it has a wide range of colours, it is elegant, versatile and rational, it can be fashioned into almost any shape and it is non-porous. Its entire thickness is compact and can be installed with imperceptible joins which make the surface completely hygienic.
On Corian® surfaces fungi and bacteria are unable to grow.
Corian® has been certified by an independent laboratory as a hygienic material in compliance with International standard DIN EN ISO 846.
Colors
The translucency of DuPontTM Corian® is particularly highlighted in the light colours and the thin sheets. Many designers use it to create lamps or light effects in various types of applications. With the Illumination series, made up of 6 colours in 6 mm and 12 mm sheets, you can obtain special light effects thanks to extraordinary translucent features.

Colors all the way through
The colours and decorative designs are present through the entire thickness of the material and therefore they are not subject to wear and tear. DuPontTM Corian® is a solid material and does not flake or break up.
Termoformable
DuPontTM Corian® can also be thermoformed with wood or metal moulds at a controlled temperature which means it can be shaped into two and three dimensional shapes. With the bas-relief technique three dimensional designs can be obtained on surfaces.
Imperceptible seams
When using DuPontTM Corian® you are only limited by your imagination. You can join two pieces together invisibly and obtain continuous surfaces with imperceptible seams, giving you almost limitless design possibilities. For example, particularly long countertops can be fabricated in pieces in the laboratory and then jointed at the installation site in order to have a continuous surface. The edges can be made to look thicker.
Non toxic
DuPontTM Corian® is an inert and non toxic material. When exposed to normal temperatures it does not release gases. When it burns, it releases only carbon monoxides, the smoke it produces has a limited optical density and does not contain toxic halogenated gases. Thanks to these features, it is used in public places and for complex applications such as check-in counters at airports, walls and work surfaces in hospitals and hotels.
Ripairable
Surfaces in DuPontTM Corian® can be renewed and brought back to their original aspect with the use of a normal delicate abrasive cleanser and an abrasive sponge. For example, cigarette burns are easily removed in this way. Damage caused by an improper use of DuPontTM Corian® can normally be repaired on site without having to replace the material.
Ecological
DuPontTM Corian® is produced in compliance with severe norms in order to limit waste and energy consumption during every stage of the production process. The material, adhesives and sealants used for installation produce low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and have obtained the GREEN GUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® certificate.
